How To Give
Donation
One of the best ways to help individuals with sickle cell disease and their families in your community is through a financial donation. Your donation, whether large or small, helps to educate a teacher about her student with sickle cell disease; or to counsel an at-risk single mother with sickle cell disease; or to advance research toward a cure for sickle cell disease. SCANCA, INC. is a not-for-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Tax Code. Your donations are tax deductible as provided in Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. You are encouraged to talk to your attorney or tax consultant for legal advice on charitable contributions.

You can specify with your donation whether you would like to be a member of the Sickle Cell Association of the National Capital Area, Inc. Your membership includes a copy of our newsletter that informs you of the latest issues about sickle cell disease, and how your donation is helping the community. You will also receive invitations to our community events. Members can also take advantage of our special offers. You may become a member with a donation of $25 or more. If you would like to make a donation, please click on the button below and print our form. Send your donation and the form to the address below. Your gift is appreciated.

Donate Property (Gifts-In-Kind)

Gifts-in-kind valued in excess of $500 should be accompanied by a deed of the gift and the fair market value as determined by the donor. The IRS requires that gifts-in kind valued at more than $5,000 must also have an independent appraisal provided by the donor. Planned Giving
Whether supported through an outright gift or planned gift, all SCANCA, INC. programs are made possible through the generosity and commitment of people like you. A planned gift to SCANCA, INC. helps to ensure the future of the services and programs we provide in your community. Planned gifts include gifts through your will, bequests, charitable gift annuities, gifts of marketable securities and charitable trusts.

A bequest is one of the easiest and most common ways to make a contribution. Tax laws encourage bequests. Bequests work particularly well if you just cannot make an immediate outright gift, but want to aid us in the future. You are encouraged to talk to your attorney or tax consultant for legal advice on planned giving contributions.
